According to industry research, businesses spend up to 30% of their time searching for lost documents or chasing signatures. Such inefficiencies are a drag on productivity and morale.
In a world that runs on efficiency, the way we handle document signing often lags behind.
Businesses rely on critical agreements, approvals, and contracts to operate smoothly, but outdated signing processes often disrupt their workflow.
Imagine a scenario where your HR team exports documents from Microsoft Business Central, manually uploads them to a signature platform, emails them for approval, and then re-imports the signed files. Not only is this time-consuming, but it’s also prone to errors, delays, and the occasional misplaced file.
Such inefficiencies are particularly costly for businesses in sectors like commerce and finance, where speed and accuracy can determine success. You might already use Business Central for financial management or inventory tracking, but without an integrated solution for electronic signatures, the gap in your workflow can derail your productivity.
Is it possible to eliminate the back-and-forth while ensuring compliance and security? The answer lies in a new Business Central integration.

FAQ
How to send a Business Central document for signature?
Once you create a document in Business Central that is set up for electronic signature, sending it to the signer's email is always possible via the report's request page, which is displayed when you run the report.
Most often, you run the report via the Print/Send tab, or by clicking the action with the name of the report.
A window with the standard print report request page opens, in which you need to specify the signer and the document we want to send for signing.
When you select to send the document, a dialog will appear asking you to confirm. If you confirm, the document will be sent for signing.
How to view the status of a document sent for signature?
The details of each uploaded document can be viewed on a page called Docusign Queue. You can access Docusign Queue either by clicking through from Docusign Setup or via the search magnifying glass in Business Central.
Within each record, you can track who the document was sent to, when, to what address, and the current status of the submission. Signed documents are automatically downloaded to the corresponding entities in Business Central, if supported.
What Are Docusign Envelopes?
Docusign employs the concept of "envelopes" to securely transmit documents. Much like a traditional paper envelope, a Docusign envelope can contain multiple documents and pages, allowing it to be sent to several signers simultaneously.
Once an envelope is dispatched for signature, it is considered "used," regardless of whether the recipient opens or signs it. This method guarantees the secure and organized management of all your digital documents.
What types of documents can I send for signature?
The integration supports sales quotes, purchase orders, invoices, and more. Sales teams can handle orders and invoices, HR can manage employment agreements, and finance teams can process receivables due and payment schedules.
What Level of Legal Validity Do Signatures Through Docusign Anything Have, and Are They Legal in My Country?
Docusign signatures meet basic electronic signature standards, legally recognized in most countries. In the EU (eIDAS) and the U.S. (ESIGN Act), this is considered a Simple Electronic Signature or an Electronic Signature, respectively, sufficient for most internal business documents in Business Central. Consult a legal advisor if unsure about your country's laws, or refer to the Docusign eSignature Legality Guide.
